"Alone" is a song about loneliness. Anyone can feel lonely at some point, even in the most crowded room. The person in the song is also experiencing it: they do not feel bad about it but enjoy being alone. Although, you often can start feeling sad because isolation can hurt a lot, and the person in the song slowly starts getting upset about this situation too. They are drowning more and more in loneliness, but it seems better for them to be on their own rather than in a company.
